Scheduling is key in time management. When making a plan, keep in mind that it should be reasonable and workable – your effectiveness depends on it. To do this, you can use to-do list templates.

Types of To-Do List Templates

Here are the three main types of templates.

  1. Long-term list of major tasks. Write down what you plan to do in the future, what goals to achieve, what tasks you need to accomplish for this. Provide preliminary deadlines. Add new ideas to this list.
  2. Annual and monthly list. Indicate which tasks from your main list you are taking into development or continuing next month, and which are for the next year. Set deadlines for the selected cases.
  3. Daily list. Describe what you will be doing tomorrow. Check which tasks drop out the next day from the monthly list. Complete it with the deeds that appeared today.

Executing a To-Do List

Even the best plan can fail. So, how do you get things done?

  • Focus on the essentials. To achieve the desired result, concentrate on one task and give up secondary ones. How to do it?
  • Limit your perfectionism. Trying to achieve the ideal in everything, you become ineffective.
  • Learn to say no. To get rid of unnecessary things, it is essential to be able to refuse requests that interfere with your plans.
  • Block irritants. Before starting work, turn off everything that can be distracted (phone, social networks, mail) and concentrate on the task.
  • Eliminate the time eaters. Analyze your day and write down how it takes time. Note the activities that are aimed at solving planned tasks and getting a good rest. All unmarked actions are time eaters. By abandoning them, you free up time for important tasks.
  • Don’t do several things at the same time. In fact, we do not solve several problems at the same time but switch between them. But that doesn’t make us effective.
  • Control the time. Schedule and limit time for work and entertainment.
  • Set deadlines. Plan to finish each task. A clear framework will not let you drag out the work.
  • Leave some time. If the task requires three hours to complete, add one extra. The time reserve will relieve stress and come in handy in case of force majeure.

Motivation

Being able to motivate yourself is important to stay consistent with your plan. Motivation can be positive – “if I do it today, I’ll buy myself a cake” and negative – “if I don’t do it today, I won’t eat cake for a month”. In other words, you are either rewarding or punishing yourself. Think about which motivation suits you best. At the end of a period – month or year – write down everything that you managed to do. Be sure to encourage yourself.

Thus, to increase your efficiency and do more, you need to develop a to-do list using a template, set clear goals and objectives, fix all points, and prioritize. It remains only to start implementing the plan, adhering to the recommendations.
